BLEU DE GEX : THE CHEESE DAIRY OF THE ABBEY


In Chézery- Forens, in modern buildings, the last traditionalcheese dairy is manufacturing, a raw milk cheese : Bleu de Gex AOC (Appellation d' Origine Contrôlée). This cheese was honoured with several medals, in particular the Gold medal at the agiculture exhibition of Paris.

and a whole range of regional goods/products The store is open  every day, from 8 to 12 AM and from 5 to 7 PM

Caution:  only  morning visits

A visitors’ gallery and a video enable you to follow  the various stages of manufacturing. Mornings between 9 :30 and 11:00  AM.

   VINEYARDS OF CHALLEX


Only wine village of Pays de Gex, Challex is proud of the vineyard which covers its slopes.
Jean-Claude Dallemagne and Frederic Péricard welcome you for a tasting session in the Mucelle cellar. During the autumn, these farmers also produce various varieties of apples and it is possible to taste the apple juice  they produce.

   COOKING LESSONS WITH A CHEF

You can attend the lessons and practice  cooking under the orders of a famous Chef : Gerard PARIS.
The courses take place on the first Thursday of each month, from2 :30 to 4 :30 PM, and are followed of a tasting session.

  A LA PAPETTE TART

The « tarte à la papette » is also called «  tarte à la gomme » or « tarte à la frangipane ». It is a speciality of the Ain soil. Its paste is generally brioche, sometimes flaky, it is covered with an oven cooked confectioner’s custard.

One finds it in some bakeries of Pays de Gex.


  BRICELET


The bricelet is a small and very thin waffle, crusty and crumbly, flat or rolled in flute. Traditionally, one makes it at home, for the feasts, but nowadays they are available throughout the year in the shops.
